• Willow Pot

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful!" (William Morris 1834-1896)

This can be said of the garden too! This is one of the designs inspired by the greatest designer of the late 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement in Great Britain, William Morris.

His wallpaper and textile designs, many still in current use today, are a skillful reworking of decorative motifs from India and the Middle East, including Isnik Ottoman Pottery. The central medallion of the "Willow" pot is based on one of Morris' wallpapers called "Marigold" - you can still see it used in a pub in our local town, Chipping Norton. Here, the willow leaves are used to encircle the strong central flower, and this swirling movement is held within a round bellied pot. The ideal shape for a dynamic planting!

Some of these pots are made to order. Please call 01608 684 416 or email us at enquiries@whichfordpottery.com for more information.
